Resident Evil Requiem: 7 Million Copies Sold

Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem continues to break records, having now surpassed 7 million copies sold since its launch just last month. That marks a fresh milestone of 1 million additional units since the previous official tally in mid-April. The game had already stunned the industry by shifting 5 million copies in its first five days, making it the fastest-selling entry in the entire Resident Evil franchise.

A Sweet Celebration for the Team

To commemorate the achievement, director Koshi Nakanishi shared a celebratory Instagram story showing the staff enjoying two enormous Resident Evil Requiem-themed cakes. One cake honors Leon, featuring black icing, blueberries and raspberries, a biscuit topper shaped like Leon wielding a pistol, and a hatchet decoration. The second cake is dedicated to co-protagonist Grace Ashcroft, with white frosting and a zombie hand decoration emerging from the second tier. Each cake bears a congratulatory message: “Welcome to 7m Leon!” and “Grace Congratulations on 7 million!”

      More Content on the Horizon

Fans have plenty to look forward to. Next month, a mysterious content update is expected, widely believed to introduce a new version of the classic The Mercenaries mode—a suspicion fueled by datamine leaks that hint at tense new music. Further out, a full-blown story DLC is also in development, though details remain scarce.

      Critical Acclaim

Resident Evil Requiem’s commercial success is matched by critical praise. IGN awarded the game a 9/10, noting that it “successfully splices two separate strains of survival horror together into the one highly infectious new mutation.”
